Dub Thompson have titled their new album 9 Songs, but the album only has eight; however, the album is a solid effort, so I’ll forgive them for misnomer.
The album opens up with the noisey and high-energy track “Hayward!”, but like the rest of the album, the song is unpredictable, jumping between intensity and rhythm. The noise suddenly cuts into a funky, slower jam, which builds up with each chorus, and then collapses back into pop-tune verse.
The album is short and sweet, and brings together many different influences from the indie rock/experimental rock sound, keeping the listener guessing (how about the ending of “Dograces” for example?)
