Jack White – Lazaretto

5/5

Few artists are capable of writing albums with such diversity, and even fewer still are able to do it with such articulation and skill. Jack White‘s sophomore solo album has finally been released and it slams together heavy blues rock, folk, rock n’ roll, and a dash of classical.

The opening title track “Lazaretto punches the gas pedal on the album, with a traditional, heavy bass riff from White and stays hard-hitting, with some hip-hop style vocals and a killer guitar solo – the album is worth this track alone.

The second track on the album, “Temporary Ground”, brings out the folk influence, and “Three Women” solidifies his talent in blues-rock. The album continues to fluctuate between genres, in a roller coaster fashion.

It is one of those albums that are essential to a music collection – big or small.
