After Monday served as a pause from the festivities and live music, Tuesday has Ottawa returning to Lebreton Flats for an evening of top-notch talent with a star-studded lineup; from Canadian noise-rock sensations METZ, to Australian musician John Butler Trio, and southern rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd, Day 6 is sure to be an exciting evening.

For more information you can head to the Bluesfest website for a full line up and to purchase tickets.

New Swears

6PM: Canadian Stage

Ottawa party-punk band New Swears write catchy, lively lo-fi punk rock songs that serve to accentuate their reckless, fun-loving demeanour. Hearing their music through the speakers is one thing – it’s easy on the ears and almost nostalgic to the days of underage drinking and making spontaneous life choices – but their live shows are on an entirely other level. 6pm is when the party starts and you’re invited.

(P.S. to get a better understanding of the band, check out their recent interview with Metro News Ottawa)

METZ

7PM: Canadian Stage

DUSTY ORGAN APPROVED

Toronto noise-rock trio METZ have been bashing their instruments as a group since 2008 and released their self-titled debut album through Sub Pop in 2012. This past year has shown a spike in their popularity after their most recent album METZ II back in May and now you can experience their fiery intensity live!

Black Lips

815PM: Canadian Stage

DUSTY ORGAN APPROVED

Atlanta garage-rock band The Black Lips incorporate elements of blues, country, and post-punk into their sound, and impulsiveness and wild antics into their live performances. Having released their seventh studio album Underneath the Rainbow March of last year, their lo-fi and DIY sound is a favourable pair for the warm evening ahead on Day 6.

John Butler Trio

930PM: Claridge Homes Stage

After being discovered while busking in Fremantle, Australia, John Butler has since been regarded as one of the best in the roots/folk music world. His live performances showcase his impressive guitar playing, alongside his equally as talented band. Sharing the same time slot as southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd and popular folk ensemble Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, festival audiences are left with the tough decision of who to see; however it is safe to say the John Butler Trio is worth passing by (or you can split up the evening and catch all three).
