Welcoming out of town acts Rose Quartz and The Zolas for the chilly Tuesday night of October 20th, the enthusiastic crowd warmed up fairly quickly with dancing and arcade games. Denver, Colorado electro-pop group Rose Quartz have escalated their presence in the indie music scene over the past two years by joining the Red Bull’s “Sound Select” artist program and joining numerous headlining electronic acts on stage (Future Islands, !!!, and Cut Copy to name a few). Bringing their upbeat chillwave style to Canada’s capital, Rose Quartz may have earned themselves some new fans Tuesday night.
Vancouver indie pop group The Zolas introduced their slick, dance-friendly style in their 2009 debut Tic Toc Tic. Fast forward six years later, and the west coast quartet have recently released their Wino Oracle EP, including the infectious hit “Fell in Love With New York”. This time falling in love with Ottawa, The Zolas closed off the night with an energetic and enchanting performance, playing favourites from Tic Toc Tic, Ancient Mars, and of course their new EP.
