British electronic musician Rodney Cromwell released his latest LP Age of Anxiety this past June. Continuing to support the disco-synth record, Cromwell has shared the Black Dog EP, which features the single of the same name and bonus remixes of other tracks from the full-length.

Revitalizing and repurposing the vintage synth pop of the ’70s and ’80s,  the extended play opens with the intergalactic single “Black Dog”, branching together the dark undertones of new wave and retro-synthpop and the upbeat, hypnotic pulse of disco and house. Cromwell holds onto and expands his futuristic disco style with “Rod’s Glitchy Disco Remix” of Age of Anxiety single “You Will Struggle”, before dropping into the robotic-trance remix of “Barry Was An Arms Dealer”.

Proving to be the biggest treat and surprise on the record is the vibrant and disco-house extended version of the title track. Reaching just over 7 minutes, the single draws out the bright textures of the original for a cycle of melody and trance-inducing fun.
