Alternative country songwriter Daniel Romano released his fourth album If I’ve Only One Time Askin’ in July, and the Juno-nominated artist is currently on the tail-end of his North American tour (dates below). Maintaining his creative momentum, Romano has since teamed up with fellow Canadian and visual artist/musician Chad VanGaalen for the new music video for the single “I’m Gonna Teach You”.
Reaching into the other-worldly and animated mind of VanGaalen, the music video features grimly drawn creatures, with one in particular seeking revenge in the name of a lover. Narrated by Romano’s western-roots vocals, overtop slide guitars and a jangling piano, the lamenting story highlights Romano’s intention to not be labelled as country, pop, or rock as he touches on elements of each one.
