After postponing the release date of his latest record In Alpha Zones from fall 2015 to spring 2016, East Coast-raised/Toronto-based bedroom-pop artist AA Wallace is excited to announce the new album will be available March 11th.
Ranging from nu-disco, to candid synth-pop, to lo-fi bedroom pop, fans were given a taste of In Alpha Zones with the singles “Harlequin”, “Secret Name”, and “VLT Girls (We Win Again)” earlier in 2015. Following the new release date announcement, Wallace has shared the latest video to of his collection with the ’90s-filtered “Success”.
Although coloured with groovy guitar hooks, and toe-tapping ’90s pop riffs, “Success” quickly becomes a cynical comparison between wealth and selling-out. While touring with his former band, Wallace worked in an office building, sparking the influence for his latest single. “S – U – C – E – S -S / That’s the way that we spell Death” repeats itself with each chorus, as flashing clips of ’90s businessmen and expensive luxuries fuse together for the song’s music video.
