(If you like: Half Moon Run, Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel)
Ottawa dark-folk trio Wood Lake recently travelled to Toronto record their upcoming record Hell which will be out this April. Their time spent in the studio birthed some interesting, experimental recording techniques, such as running guitars through old stereo receivers, manually creating phasing effects, and recording vocals belted from an empty stairwell.
The result is a resonating mix of swelling vocals and clockwork instrumentation. Their latest single “Easy Love” was inspired by the single “Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme” by Simon and Garfunkel, which comes clear through the gentle, broken chords on the electronic keyboard.
