(If you like: Stevie Wonder, Lakestreet Dive, The Suffers)
By the age of six, Clyde Lawrence was accepted into the Songwriters Guild of America for his work in the 2000 film Miss Congeniality. It is almost an understatement to say the young New York City native was meant for the music business. Adding to the family name, his younger sister Gracie is an equally talented singer and songwriter, with both siblings boasting crushing soul-pop vocals after submerging their youth with Janis Joplin, The Beatles, and most notably, Stevie Wonder.
Performing under the name Lawrence, Clyde and Gracie have combined their talents with local musicians to produce their upcoming full-length album Breakfast, out March 11th.
Ahead of the release, the soul-pop group have shared the playful new single “Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me?”. Clyde’s raspy, yet slick vocals contrast beautifully with his sister’s sweeping, angelic harmonies, adding to the infectious spirit of the accompanying band. A modern love story of HBO, take-out, and sweatpants, “Do You Wanna…” is a heart-warming track with a youthful flavour, adhering to any soul-pop fan’s sweet-tooth. As a pair that do Soul Sweatpants Sessions, Lawrence makes soul oh, so cozy.
Check out the imagination-frenzy clip below, and you can pre-order Breakfast through iTunes.
