(If you like: Walrus, The Dodos, We Are Scientists)

Halifax indie rock five-piece Beauts introduced their lo-fi, kick-back style with their debut hit single “After All” last May, and since then have been touring and writing new material for their upcoming sophomore Waves/Wash EP out June 10th. From the new release comes “Covers”, the band’s latest single and hit.

Along with an anchoring dance-punk bass line, fuzzy guitar distortion back frontman Jeff Lawton’s raw, post-punk-esuqe vocals for a slow-burning, dance floor hit that grows and grows until it implodes on itself into a groovy, frantic conclusion. Coming from a band that has been a key component in the East Coast music scene through various previous projects, including Rich Aucoin, Kuato, Writers’ Strike, and Night Surf, “Covers” shows their experience as they’ve moved and matured through the underground Halifax scene.

Check out the colourful and glitchy music video below, and catch them as they embark on an East Coast tour this spring and summer (dates below). Head to their bandcamp for more music.
