Hot Chip frontman Alexis Taylor has released two full-lengths and an EP as a solo artist, often leaving behind his energetic, electronic music persona behind. His previous side projects have touched on indie rock, gospel, and avant-garde, but for Taylor’s upcoming third album Piano (out June 10th), he’s turning to the elegance of the 88-key instrument.
Soft, sombre, and simple, his lead single “I’m Ready” is an intimate recording of Taylor and his piano. The quietness of it all is magnified by his “older self ” (a cameo made by his father) sitting alone at a beautiful piano in an empty room, highlighting the delicateness of solitude and creation.
