It’s been a wild and prosperous year for Toronto punk rockers PUP. Their sophomore album The Dream is Over combined with their extensive touring has maintained the band’s place as a fan favourite.

From the release comes the single “Sleep in the Heat”, a song about an unusual, yet unforgettable friend for frontman Stephan Babcock, “[It’s] a song about my chameleon Norman, who passed away while we were writing this record”.

Directed by Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux, the new music video expands on the idea of losing a friend – no matter how many legs it walks on. “Jeremy was the one who thought we should make a video for this song. He has this really weird one-eyed grumpy cat that he loves a lot, and I guess the song got him thinking about what it’s going to be like when she’s gone. Losing a friend is something so many of us have had to deal with, which is why I think this video is so powerful.”.

Featuring Stranger Things star and PUP-fan Finn Wolfhard, “Sleep in the Heat” continues the saga of younger versions of the band introduced in the “Guilt Trip” music video. With Wolfhard appearing as a young Babcock, the music video tells the story of finding an unlikely furry friend and the struggling of saying goodbye.
