In No Particular Order: September 23, 2016

Alright. It’s already Wednesday and the next edition of In No Particular Order is almost upon us, so I’m going to keep this week short and sweet (unlike last week) – just like the parting small talk of passing acquaintances. “Hey, how are you?” “Good, thanks. You?” “Good”. “Great! See you around!” (Fin) Check out more of the new releases here and follow me on Instagram and Twitter because I said so. Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam – I Had A Dream That You Were Mine You might recognize both names…

In No Particular Order: May 27, 2016

One of the best feelings in life? Finding a new album that you know you’ll be listening to and enjoying for years. That first spark, ignited from the mysterious and nervously excited first listen, is not lost over time; if anything you become more and more attached, as the album becomes apart of your life and you debate naming your future children after the band’s lead singer… Honestly, if you could, you’d probably marry it. …or maybe that’s just me? This week saw some of the best releases in 2016…

Arkells – Private School (Official Music Video)

(If you like: Tokyo Police Club, Sam Roberts Band, Hollerado)  Hamilton indie pop rock group Arkells certainly worked hard to get where they are now. The JUNO-award winning band have released three phenomenal records since their 2008 debut Jackson Square, touring extensively, and dedicated their lives to performing. Continuing their success, Arkells have announced a fourth full-length is on the way August 5th. Set to be titled Morning Report, the indie five-piece shared the good news with a brand-new music video for the forthcoming album’s lead single “Private School” over at The Fader.…

In No Particular Order: April 29, 2016

If an alien creature suddenly came to visit Earth this week, it would certainly want to know what “Purple Rain Views Lemonade” would mean. Between Prince, Beyoncé, and Drake, music headlines have been bombarded with their names and faces; it’s hard to imagine there are other musicians t0 listen to right now. Don’t worry, there are. And if you’d like to give your ears a break for awhile, you’ve come to the right place. Plants & Animals – Waltzed In From the Rumbling Plants & Animals are a diamond in the rough and…

PREMIERE: Marchildon! – Night Screamer (Album Stream)

Owen Marchildon a.k.a Purple Hill a.k.a Marchildon! a.k.a From Fiction…. Regardless of which name you choose, Toronto singer-songwriter Owen Marchildon has dabbled in as many genres as he has monikers: punk, math-rock, and psychedelic Americana to name a few. Since recently shifting his focus from math-rock group From Fiction to his solo effort under his last name, Marchildon! (pronounced MARCH-IL-DON!!) is set to release his new full-length Night Screamer tomorrow and Dusty Organ has the exclusive album premiere. His off-cantered personality comes through on the seven track effort with playful combinations…

In No Particular Order: April 22, 2016

Coyote – Nights

(If you like: Tokyo Police Club, Paper Lions, Joel Plaskett)  Summer is almost here. Finally. The temperature is gradually returning to a regular number, the sun appears to be shining more often, and puddles of melting snow warms the hearts of everyone stepping past them. And with that, days are getting longer, and PEI indie synth-pop favourites Coyote are looking forward to the season. After the humble success of their debut Proof of Life EP, the Charlottetown natives are honing their sound and have returned with their latest single “Nights”. Lead by the chorus…

In No Particular Order: April 8, 2016

Did I miss anything? Do you agree? Let me know! Gallant – Ology Right from the get-go, I couldn’t help but think of similar artists. So, naturally I started…

Tokyo Police Club – Melon Collie & the Infinite Radness (Part 1) EP

(If you like: Ra Ra Riot, Born Ruffians, Wolf Parade)  Tokyo Police Club are one of those bands that seem to be a critical part of the Canadian indie music identity, but are not as quick to be mentioned. Either way, their debut full-length Elephant Shell back in 2008 with the insatiable hit “Your English is Good” was the first stepping stone towards a successful career. Celebrating their ten year anniversary as a band this year and their debut A Lesson In Crime EP, the Newmarket four-piece have released their latest EP Melon…

American Killers – Young Blood EP

(If you like: Wolfmother, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin)  If albums had catchphrases similar to the way movies do, American Killers‘ Young Blood EP would be flaunting the phrase “the louder, the better”. The Sacramento-based hard rock trio deliver relentless, bone-shaking riffs and melodies with an appreciation for ’80s rock, but with a strong gusto of fresh energy. Young Blood is the band’s debut release and was preceded by the riff-mashing single “Big City” and the accompanying political-dystopian music video. Introducing their hard-hitting sound to the world through the lead single, the new…
