AA Wallace – VLT Girls (We Win Again)
Originally hailing from the south shores of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, AA Wallace is currently based out of Toronto, fine-tuning his synth-pop style and dance-friendly music. Expected to release his debut full length In Alpha Zones this fall, AA Wallace has released the next single from the anticipated record “VLT Girls (We Win Again)”.
Inspired by the VLTs (video lottery terminals) found at worn out old bars, Wallace wrote the song after spectating a bouncer at a Halifax bar trying to remove a drunk woman as she climbed on the machine; all the while, nearby gamblers robotically stuck to their machines and ignored the excitement.
With an infectious mix between energetic Rich Aucoin and dance-hungry Robert DeLong, AA Wallace is able to create a party out of almost any setting with the latest single. Although the video is draped with grey skies, and gloomy locations, the accompanying song is brightly coloured, vibrant, and a treat for the ears. The mundane existence of bar floor gambling machines, and the stale sensation of unfinished, worn out places from the past, combine with the spirit-lifting energy of the music to create a somewhat bitter-sweet and ironic mixture, solidified with the line “We win again”.
