Matt Monoogian – Sentimental Sound
Matt Monoogian spent almost a decade living in Dawson City, Yukon, where for years he struggled with addiction, mental and physical health issues, and epilepsy. Now based out of Guelph, Ontario, Monoogian has come to terms with his past and transformed them into a solo full-length effort Hide, set to hit shelves November 6th.
Preceding the album release, the singer-songwriter has shared “Sentimental Sound”, and explains the message behind the song:
“‘Sentimental Sound’ is a slightly fantastical idea of trying to make your dreams come true, but also dealing with the reality of the world and the pressures of making yourself financially stable. knowing that theres something real and transcendent that is beyond everyday life. theres a timeline in life, but you know that deep down in your mind it can’t be changed”.
That blurred sense of fantasy and reality is reshaped into soft, whispery vocals from Monoogian, and folk-soaked guitar riffs and melodies.
You can catch him on tour (dates below) and pre-order the album now.
