Mormor – Live for Nothing
Toronto musician and producer Mormor has announced his debut album Live for Nothing will hit shelves November 6th, and ahead of the dreamy, ethereal release, he has shared the title track and its accompanying music video.
“My new single is about finding purpose in a mess of a world. The video…captures the mondanity and mood that some of us feel amongst our peers...I wanted the viewer to see the perspective of someone who felt rather numb in a social situation. It is relatable to feel lonely in a room full of people; everyone has had that feeling.”
The video’s protagonist experiences that sense of loneliness, as she tries to eliminate the numb through wine and pills during a girl’s night of partying.
“Live for Nothing” captures that melodramatic feeling, creating an atmospheric and spiritual ambience with a heavy, electro-dream pop density solidified by a repeating shoegaze guitar melody.
(As well, Toronto singer-songwriter Mieke makes a cameo).
