YACHT – Ringtone (Joe Goddard Remix)
Having recently released their latest album I Thought the Future Would Be Cooler, L.A. future-pop duo YACHT are closing a fall tour across Europe (tour dates below). Known for their shapeshifting critique and detail-oriented opinion of technology and the world, YACHT’s latest collection keeps true to their style.
Off the record is the neo-funk/trance-pop hit “Ringtone”, which caught the eye of Hot Chip member Joe Goddard. The fellow electro-pop artist returned to basics and remixed the single, heavily footed in old-school disco/retro-house stylings.
“I love YACHT, I think their music and their live performances are mesmerising and they are just plain good people. For this release I wanted to make an old-fashioned Chicago banger as if the Eurythmics were remixed by DJ Pierre'” .
Combining those disco-house originals with the cynical and futuristic lyrics from YACHT, the remix dips into the world of French house and laser-firing hypnotics.
