Top 10: Songs to Help You Survive Exam Season
It’s 6:30pm and your final starts at 7pm but you have three more lectures to go through.
You can do three, three hour lectures in 30 minutes right? Wrong. You are always wrong and yet you do this to yourself over, and over, and over again.
You check the mirror and notice the new bag accessories your eyes are sporting. This is what she meant by fetch right? You race to the exam hall only to realize you mixed up schedules and your exam actually starts at 2pm not 9am. What can help you through all this madness?
Tunes. Studying of course, but tunes. Here are my top tunes to help you survive this exam period….Besides studying…of course.
When will the madness end and your happiness begin?!
The answer: the ten songs below.
10) Magnets – Disclosure ft. Lorde
Lorde.
I mean…it’s Lorde. Need I say more about our second Queen?
9) An Immigrant – Jon Bellion
Jon Bellion, or, the Visionary, is truly one of the greatest artists alive currently. “An Immigrant” takes the listener for a ride as it starts off slow and casual, in a stage of uncertainty, then move into a bumping beat, full of rhythmic sounds and addictive harmonies.
8) Hunger – QuEST
QuESt – not Quest Love – is a remarkable artist that I am very grateful to have discovered. “Hunger” being the most addictive of his collection of songs, is the one I chose. I find myself thuggin’ to the beat from the moment it drops.
7) Higher – Taio Cruz ft. Travie McCoy
#ThrowbackThursday or throwback everyday? With this song in the mix, you get to decide. A timeless hit, “Higher” evokes the dancer within us all. (And we all know dancing produces heat).
6) Heart & Soul – Built By Titan
I actually first heard this song through a Slip N Slide video that went viral. I tracked it down and fell in love with the message in the music video for “Heart & Soul”. As with their other songs, Built By Titan carries the feeling of love, hope, and unity, in this song. (Warm and fuzzies).
5) Revival – Selena Gomez
Not normally one to stand for Ms. Gomez, but this album had my edges bare. Selena Gomez truly recreates herself as an artist and a young woman with her newest album Revival. This song summarizes the overwhelming feeling of the album as Gomez declares all she has learnt, telling us that her comeback is nothing more than a powerful “Revival.”
4) Global Concepts – Robert DeLong
“Global Concepts” first drew me in because upon it’s release, Robert DeLong was unknown to me. The eccentric videography and the animated sounds of “Global Concepts” swept me off my feet.
3) Knock – Matthew Young

I discovered Matthew Young through my regular creeping of new artists on Soundcloud. “Knock” is full of bass and the remarkable signature vocals by Young himself that will have the temperature rising.
2) Crazy in Love – Beyoncé (BLØOM Remix)
BLØOM, formally known as ATTLAES, recreates this smash hit by our Queen Bey (and my love). Adding a haunting and addictive aura to the song, the softness of Beyoncé’s voice is highlighted against the majestic electronic backdrop. Just looking at Beyoncé is enough to make any day better.
1) In the Air – Azealia Banks ft. Morgan Page
With it’s hard hitting bass, this remix/mashup will bring out the twerkilicious (yes, it’s a word) within all of us. With the first line being “I’m so cold I’m drippin’ icicles,” how could one not be enticed to want to hear more? (And sometimes unfortunately relatable this time of year).
Good luck with all your exams!
