Peter Katz – Lay It On Me (Official Music Video)
(If you like: Paper Beat Scissors, Royal Wood, Michael Feuerstack)
Since his 2012 Juno award nomination for his debut album Still Mind Still, Montreal singer-songwriter Peter Katz has come a long way. International tours, and critical acclaim have allowed Katz to grow his fan base and mature as an artist.
His 2015 record We Are the Reckoning (available in the U.S. on February 19th) was his greatest challenge and biggest record yet:
“If you want to make something that’s like nothing you’ve made before, then you have to shake yourself up, go beyond what’s comfortable and known and let yourself feel disoriented, overwhelmed, even intimidated. Those moments, when you lose your bearings, when you’re forced to sink or swim, are the moments when you have an opportunity to rise to the occasion, to surprise yourself, to do the things you didn’t know you could do. That’s what making this album was for me, I’m so proud of the process, and I’m so proud of the result.”
From the 11-track collection comes “Lay It On Me”; an intimate song about sacrifice and love. Katz’ gentle vocals shape beautifully around the swelling instrumentation for an intimate and dramatic song that resonates both from its appealing chord progression, but also its delicate, heart-felt lyrics; “I would rather take your pain / then to watch you / hurting”.
Known for his appreciation for visual art, the new music video artistically combines Katz against a fragile, organic shots of nature.
