Radio Radio (w/ Alex Silas & the Subterraneans) – March 4, 2016: Ritual
I hope you brought your dancing shoes.
Acadian hip-hop duo Radio Radio certainly wore theirs Friday night, setting off a wild dance party at Ritual Nightclub in Ottawa. From the front of the stage to the back bar, the room was packed with energetic and excited fans ready to go all night long. Having just released their latest album Light the Sky – the first to be entirely in English – Radio Radio danced through their hits new and old. Opening for the pair was local indie hip-hop-fusion act Alex Silas & the Subterraneans, who drew in loyal supporters, and left with a group of new ones.

Alex Silas & the Subterraneans
Alex Silas & the Subterraneans started things off with their eclectic mix of alternative rock, hip-hop, and roots rock. Lead singer/rapper Alex Silas took over the room, with his stage presence and passionate delivery reaching out to the dance-crazed fans below who were more than happy to sing along. Playing a number of tracks from his full-length Roots, along with a few new singles from his upcoming summer release, Silas and the Subterraneans put conscious thought and energy into their tunes. Find more of their music through their bandcamp page, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
Radio Radio
Lights, music, dancing: the three key components to Radio Radio’s floor-shaking set last night. As if the floor was a trampoline, Ritual’s tight space became a community of singing and dancing as the Acadian duo worked through songs new and old, promoting their unity of Francophone and Anglophone music. Criss-crossing across the stage, the pair made sure to cover every inch of it, engaging the audience from one end to the other.
