Radiohead – Burn the Witch (Official Music Video)
After vanishing off the face of the virtual world earlier this week, Radiohead surprised fans this morning with a look into their upcoming ninth album. With no clear word on when the album is set to be released, or what it will be like, their new single “Burn the Witch” is the sole, subtly sinister preview.
Opening with lush, orchestral arrangements reminiscent of mid-career Radiohead and the more recent side project Atoms for Peace, “Burn the Witch” is rich with eerie string arrangements with dark undertones, creating an unnerving sense throughout. Masked by Thom Yorke’s whispering croon, and dense instrumentation, “Burn the Witch” holds its warm vibrancy; but once you look past, it is dark and dreary underneath.
Released along with it is the claymation music video depicting one man’s tour of the “Model Town”. As he progresses through the area, he discovers the uncomfortable and twisted truth of the picturesque town.
Enjoy the conflicting singe below, and catch them on tour this summer (dates below).
