Spring King – The Summer (Official Music Video)
(If you like: Houndmouth, Sun Club, The Cribs)
Manchester indie rock group Spring King are just the kind of high-energy, laissez-faire garage rock pop the summer months long for. And just as the slick, laid-back sound of Houndmouth’s “Sedona” was the track of easy-going nights and lay-in-the-grass afternoons last year, Spring King’s “The Summer” will be the case for 2016.
Aptly named, “The Summer” is a smooth, Brit-pop tune that channels the likes of The Cribs, Black Lips, and the rebellious energy of The Libertines thrown together with a ’70s-pop chorus that is nothing short of catchy. And in case the tune wasn’t hot enough, the music video tells the story of two friends who end up playing with fire.
Spring King are releasing their debut album Tell Me If You Like To this Friday, but you can pre-order a copy here.
