Single Mothers – Nihilist Headlights
If there’s one way to describe post-hardcore punk band Single Mothers, it’s cynical. Well, that and post-hardcore punk.
Either way, the London, Ontario four-piece have put out three albums since the 2014 debut Negative Qualities and have built up quite the reputation as being the underdogs (hence the lyrical cynicism and frustration-fuelled vocal style).
During the recording of their 2017 sophomore Our Pleasure, lead singer/frontman Drew Thomson and the band had 17 songs at their disposal, but decided to only release 10 for the album. From the B-side collection comes “Nihilist Headlights”, a rowdy, angry track that is finally making its debut two years later.
Enjoy the lyric video below, which is clearly someone having a ton of fun playing with video effect software and strangely placed stock images.
