Purity Ring – stardew
Edmonton’s electronic pop duo Purity Ring, composed of Megan James and Corin Roddick, have been relatively quiet over the past few years. Their last release was the captivating 2015 LP another eternity, which showed the duo capitalizing on their versatile synth-pop sound. Five years later, Purity Ring have ended their silence and announced their third album WOMB will hit shelves April 3rd, 2020. From the upcoming release is the lead single “stardew”.
Composed of Roddick’s dense, electronic production and James’ candy-coated vocals, “stardew” is a familiar continuation of the band’s sound. It is well-rounded, building from a jewelry-box piano opening to the steady pulse of a drum pad rhythm, before exploding into a cinematic and lush finish.
Purity Ring will be on tour this spring alongside the release of their new album (dates below). Head to their website for more information and tickets, and to pre-order a copy of WOMB.
