LOONY – WHiTE LiE
Scarborough-raised soul/jazz vocalist LOONY has been building traction since the 2018 release of her Part 1 EP. Her passionate and intimate vocal style fits together with her music’s R&B/Soul sound and has captivated listeners everywhere.
The rising star has officially announced the upcoming release of her new EP JOYRiDE, out April 23rd. From the 6-track effort is her latest single “WHiTE LiE”.
Blending together her elegance and fierce musical qualities, LOONY wrote “WHiTE LiE” at a cottage up north alongside Akeel Henry (Shawn Mendes, Ty Dolla $ign), and the song’s organic and raw energy has found its way into the recording. Filled with mixed emotions and ever-changing energy, the new single showcases LOONY’s ability to shift effortlessly from angelic to dynamic by way of her powerful vocals and songwriting skills.
“Lyrically, for me this song is about romanticizing and re-imagining truths that you’re otherwise hesitant to face,” explains LOONY. “And then sonically, this song just feels fucking mean, and that sort of mimics the jaded and blasé tone I wrote it in. But there are also parts in the music that feel strangely joyous and even magical, and I think that reflects the feelings of imagination – or delusion – depending on how you look at it. And in a nutshell, that’s a good representation of how the whole project is… an organized musical chaos that acts as a mirror, and an armour, for my inner-most thoughts.”
Enjoy the single below, and stay tuned for more from JOYRiDE.
