Montreal-raised art-pop superstar Grimes is contributing to the recent world of homegrown creativity with her music video for “You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around”, her latest single from her new album Miss Anthropocene.
Shot in front of a green screen, the music video is intended to be an interactive tool, allowing content creators to build their own music video. As well, musicians can use the song’s stems to create their own version and remix of the song. The need to stay creative and innovative has become a strange challenge and it is encouraging to see artists branching out and allowing their fans to interact from the comfort of their home.
Miss Anthropocene had Grimes continuing to reinvent herself and evolve, using her electronic influences to craft a vast track list, each song with a different fingerprint, as she explores the state of the world with a mix of nihilism and futurism. “You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around” stands out as a more pop-forward track from the album, using heavy electronic textures and her angelic vocals to contrast.
