Waiting for Smith Remains Optimistic On “Lines of Love”
After breaking his back in two places during avalanche training as a ski instructor, Harry Lloyd had an epiphany he would devote his life to music should he survive. As the universe would have it, Lloyd made it out alive and with songs in his heart. He formed Waiting For Smith (named after a tardy drummer named Smith) as his way to share his new life’s meaning.
His optimistic and charismatic outlook on life shines through in his music, inspiring change with his uplifting blend of indie pop and folk. For his latest single “Lines of Love”, Lloyd remains hopeful of a long distance friendship, inspired by a phone call he had on Kings Cross at night pleading for a friend to remember everything shall pass.
The gentle guitar strumming a-là Jack Johnson and filled-out folk sound similar to The Lumineers provide a captivating backdrop for Lloyd’s lyrics to come through crystal clear and provide some positivity. About the song, he shares:
“I want people to feel hopeful when listening to Lines of Love, to dance carefree and even raise their hands in an almost tribal sense of unity. We can overcome the speed bumps in the road, our lives and our relationships and that is surely where the good stuff comes from – out of the struggle.”
