Junior Mesa Shares Two New Singles “Losing My Grip” & “Creep”
Multi-instrumentalist Junior Mesa released his debut EP Peace back in November 2019 and has shared his first new releases of 2020 on his 21st birthday. The Bakersfield, California native embraces his West Coast upbringing on the new singles, keeping in line with his catchy brand of genre-bending indie pop.
Infusing his classic influences like Wes Montgomery, Jimi Hendrix, and Sly & the Family Stone with his Gen-Z tech-saavy suburban upbringing, Junior Mesa looks to make that feels real:
“I’m trying to bring together seventies, alternative, funk, soul, indie, rock, and old school jazz,” he explains. “I aim to build a world. It’s why I’m personally playing everything and writing all of the lyrics. I create it all piece by piece.”
“Losing My Grip” brings alive the toetapping spirit of ’60s pop rock while “Creep” is more melancholic and slow-burning, as he embraces the timeless dilemma of lingering love.
