Teenanger – Touching Glass

After battling two floods, a CO2 leak, vermin infestation and mould in their DIY studio space, Toronto post-punk-indie rockers Teenanger are releasing their new album Good Time on October 2nd. The resilient spirit and handcrafted goodness comes out on their lead single “Touching Glass”. It explores the addictive qualities of our smartphones through glossy post-punk riffs and colourful indie pop energy.

Lonely God – Time

On his new single “Time”, Baltimore producer/songwriter Lonely God mixes in a dash of hip-hop into his addictive indie pop sound. After recently signing to the brand new PizzaSlime Records – a branch of Diplo’s MadDecent – the new single celebrates the excitement of the come-up. The chorus of “not every guy’s got an S on his chest / not every guy’s gonna dress to the tens” gets better and better with each verse.

Darlingside – Ocean Bed

Boston indie folk quartet Darlingside are releasing their third full-length Fish Pond Fish on October 9th. The collective have managed to create lush, baroque-folk pop tracks consistently over the years and their new single “Ocean Bed” is no different. Full-band harmonies, mandolin, and banjo take the tradition of bluegrass and folk and rearrange it into a mesmerizing sonic experience.

Makaya McCraven – Mak Attack

Building a solo career as a drummer is not a simple feat. Chicago jazz percussionist and producer Makaya McCraven released his 2018 album Universal Beings to critical acclaim, and he is set to release a documentary about the process on July 31st. Alongside the production, McCraven is releasing Universal Beings E&F Sides for fans who need more from the creative mastermind. “Mak Attack” is the first taste of the bonus content, once again pushing out his fast-firing, virtuosic percussion.

Land of Talk – Now You Want To Live In the Light

Elizabeth Powell is the frontwoman of Montreal-based group Land of Talk. On their upcoming album Indistinct Conversations out July 31st, Powell revolutionized her songwriting and voice on the 11 track effort, being more true to her style and identity. On “Now You Want To Live In the Light”, Powell doesn’t overcomplicate things, instead she maximizes the emotive ability of the acoustic guitar and her haunting vocal style. on the song which Powell calls “a poem set to music”.

Felix Cartal ft. Sophie Simmons – Mine

Since its release in March, “Mine” has climbed its way up the charts with its earworm hook and electro-pop production. Produced by Vancouver-based DJ Felix Cartal and featuring pop singer Sophie Simmons, the heartfelt song about past lovers was given a new music video this week. The hyper-colourful video was directed by Marc Webb (The Weeknd, Chevy and Vodafone) and stylized by Carlee Wallace (Teen Vogue, Marie Claire US and Billboard). The combination is a mix of an eye-catching H&M ad and Calvin Harris music video.

Fast Romantics – Hallelujah, What’s It To Ya

Although Matthew Angus was raised as the son of a preacher, the Fast Romantics frontman isn’t religious. Still, he recognizes the human need for beliefs and faith on their new single “Hallelujah, What’s It To Ya”. With an anthemic, Airborne Toxic Event style chorus, the song’s ringing hook and powerful energy comes across as both insightful and engaging, as the animals fight for their faith in the accompanying animated music video.

James Blake – Are You Even Real?

GRAMMY winning UK singer-songwriter James Blake released some new music earlier this year with his single “You’re Too Precious”, and has shared his second release “Are You Even Real?” earlier this month. In true Blake fashion, it features his silky falsetto and orchestral electronic arrangements, creating a parallel for emotion with his songwriting.
