Charlotte Day Wilson Shares Two New Singles

Toronto-based singer-songwriter Charlotte Day Wilson has made her return with two new singles today, marking the first of her 2020 releases. Both songs feature the songstress reworking her velvety smooth vocals to incorporate jazz, R&B, and pop into her work, making for two late-summer must-haves.

About the singles, Wilson shares some insight, “’Take Care of You’ was one of those songs that came really naturally and quickly, the lyrics were impromptu & the music was simple. I just wanted to write the sort of lesbian love song that I would want to listen to. Syd was the best possible addition, we both felt it was a song that needed to be heard. I wrote ‘Summertime’ at my cottage alone in the woods, I was just reflecting on some unrequited emotions that always seem to come back in the summer.“

On “Take Care of You”, the warmth of her voice melts together with Syd, creating a sultry, late-night love song rich with contemporary pop stylings and soulful instrumentation.

With “Summertime”, Wilson flaunts her intimate vocal abilities with a Janelle Monáe energy, making for an equally tranquil and convivial tune.
