Alex Maher Sets The World On Fire With New Video For “Reason”

Like many artist who released music at the beginning of 2020, Vancouver multi-instrumentalist Alex Maher had to suspend the hype and celebration of his third solo EP Dream Final, following its February released date. With a tour planned and a calendar of release dates pushed, he has finally shared the finished product for his new music video. Better late than never, “Reason”, which was shot back in March, just days before the country-wide lockdown, has come together, fittingly placed within 2020’s chaotic year of news.

About the song and video, Maher shares, “It’s an abstract look at where we find hope in grim times of rampant wildfires, civil unrest and capitalistic greed”. As the world starts to self-implode, the music video shows different characters spending their last few days on the planet.

Countering the dark undertones and socially conscious lyrics, “Reason” is a groovy, jazz-infused electro-pop tune rounded out by Maher’s alto saxophone solo. With similarities to Chromeo, Hall & Oates, and more contemporary pop stylings, Maher manages to both spark conversation and a dance party simultaneously.
