John Lowell Anderson Celebrates The Early Morning With New Single “Four am”
There is a certain serenity in the early hours of the morning; somewhere between the hours of three and five makes for an almost surreal moment hovering in time. For singer-songwriter John Lowell Anderson, that unusual timeframe, mixed with sleep deprivation, ushers in a clarity and spark of creativity that is best replicated through his lush, folk-singer/songwriter sound.
The Los Angeles-based songwriter took the leap and recorded his latest single “Four am” in a full studio, but its origins come from more humble moments in a place of solitude and calmness. About the song, Anderson shares, “This song was sort of following my stream of consciousness in those moments and the lyrics really poured out from that.”
Inspired by the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Noah Gunderson, his upcoming EP All That I Know, out February 19th, is a contemplative and textured collection of emotion-driven songs. “Four am” being one of the strongest efforts, as he broods about the people of Los Angeles, both friends and strangers, over a steady acoustic strumming, filled out with swelling details and focused instrumentation.
