UK Duo Sad Night Dynamite Share Eerie New Claymation Video “Smoke Hole”
UK duo Sad Night Dynamite continue to be one of the most exciting new acts with each release. Combining the worlds of hip-hop, electronica, experimental, and indie pop, the brother-like pair of Archie and Josh will be releasing their highly anticipated self-titled debut mixtape on February 26th. Adding to the hype is their newly released single and video “Smoke Hole”.
On the track, the band shares, “is the suitably-strange sound of getting lost in your own thoughts. We wanted it to feel as though you’re sort of sinking through your own brain – the further into the song you get, the deeper into your own head you fall, that’s kind of why the song gets weirder and weirder. We wrote it whilst both hypnotised by a zoltar, so beyond that it doesn’t make a lot of sense.”
The mysterious, eerie loop turns haunting chord progressions and textures into a slow-burning, hip-hop beat as the pair create a cult-like atmosphere. In the accompanying clip directed by Edie Lawrence, the track’s unsettling demeanour is accentuated by the creepy claymation. Strange characters, a wonky rollercoaster, and zombie-like fans follow the nightmarish journey from hitchhiking to theme park to main festival stage.
