Louie Louie! Finds The Brighter Side On New Single “Living In A Show”
After the end of self-described ‘brat-pop’ icons HOLYCHILD a few years back, co-founder Louie Diller reset as a solo artist as Louie Louie!. Capturing the familiar anthemic charisma and energizing pop production of the mid-’00s electro-pop, Louie! Louie! has shared his new single “Living In A Show”.
After launching a stellar career with HOLYCHILD and basking in the viral success from it, Diller eventually hit a humbling rock bottom. “In 2016 I went from making half a million dollars to food stamps after a whole lot of financial mismanagement, classic music biz shit show and some,” he shares. “That same year I also had my heartbroken by a girl, who I thought I was going to marry, and found myself living next door to the Mexican mafia in east LA, who were hustling me every other day. That same year my dad came down with cancer and though he thankfully beat that shit, for most of 2016 it wasn’t clear if he’d survive. And then Trump got elected. Out of all this, Louie Louie! was born.”
The inspiring and celebratory spirit of his music hits its mark on “Living In A Show”, as the cynical bitterness of real life meets its colourful and prim-and-proper match with the lively qualities of ‘brat-pop’.
