Citizen Share New Single “Black and Red”
Having served as a band for over ten years now, Toledo-based group Citizen took matters into their veteran hands on their upcoming album Life In Your Glass World. Lead singer Mat Kerekes built a studio in his garage to record and track the full album, and the homegrown environment solidified the group’s unfiltered and free-minded indie rock.
Building off of their previously released single “Blue Sunday”, the group have shared their latest track “Black and Red”, a thunderous and propelling rock song about toxic friendships. Catchy guitar hooks and driving bass play with the indie rock sound of the ’10s on “Black and Red”, while synthesizers and lush production keep it modern.
About the song, Kerekes says, “The song is about someone who leeches off of your efforts and turns out to be a bad friend on top of that. Nick [Hamm] wrote the guitar line late in the writing process, but we had to use it and ended up being the last song we wrote for the record.”
Life In Your Glass World is out March 26th via Run For Cover Records and can be pre-ordered here.
