JÁNA Works Through A Break-Up In New Single “Outsider”
Swedish alt-R&B singer/songwriter JÁNA has officially announced a new EP is on the way. As a follow-up to her stunning 2020 EP Flowerworks and its subsequent single “Green” featuring the VanJess, JÁNA is expected to share her new EP Works later this year.
Leading the way is her brand new single “Outsider”, once again capturing her silky and sweet vocals overtop moody, bedroom pop beats and R&B sultriness.
Speaking on the new single, JÁNA shares, “The lyrics and melodies came super quickly to me on ‘Outsider’. It’s my first “breakup song”. I’m questioning this person, the relationship and myself after a breakup. I’m basically asking this person lots of questions in a “how could you” type of way. There’s a sense of frustration, resentment and some sort of sad hope (referring to the second verse) in this song; addressing the feeling that you don’t belong without that person or maybe you lost who you were before ever meeting them.”
The mixture of emotions keeps things exciting on the Stockholm-based artist’s performance. Co-produced by Little Dragon percussionist Erik Bodin, the rich production and glossy qualities of “Outsider” emphasize the mixture of emotions from JÁNA’s captivating performance.
