Yr Poetry Sign To Alcopop; Share New Single “Porthmaddog, dog”
Birmingham pop punk duo Yr Poetry recently signed to Alcopop! Records and to celebrate the announcement, have shared their melodic new single “Porthmaddog, dog” and its grungy music video.
Commenting on the track, the band said, “‘Porthmadog, dog’ is a song about sweating the small stuff because big things are scary. Also big things can be beautiful—like a majestic eternal coastline cliff—or depressing, like a drizzled sand dune behind an off season caravan park in Porthmadog. It’s a song about damning the man by forging his taxi receipts and it’s a song about Wales being a charming drunk but mostly it’s about being so tired that rhyming beaches with light switches seems like clever wordplay.”
Comprised of band members and long-term friends Alexei Berrow (guitar) and Junior Laidley (drums), the duo match the multi-directional meaning behind the song with chaotic math rock guitar riffs and melodic percussion, working in unison to create a flurry of emotions and maniac energy.
