Producer Aibai Releases Cinematic Self-Titled EP
23 year old Minneapolis producer Aibai has teamed up with some friends for her cinematic and downtempo self-titled EP. With the aim of blending together genres and sounds to create a euphoric and moody atmosphere, the four-track collection was built around the support of features from friends, including indie pop vocalist Swims.
The glowing and ambient soundscape of the record elevates the lyrical themes of friendship, romantic love, and heartbreak. Buttery guitar riffs, lush synthesizers and textured details open up the natural and youthful energy of the EP.
Aibai shares, “I decided to combine genres and make an indie electronic EP. This first single “Glow” is a perfect example of that. With the indie vocals of Swims, combined with my ambient music, I was able to produce the indietronica sound I was going for!”
Inspired by the outdoors, “Glow” finds its strength through playful guitar effects and layered harmonies, while “More Than Friends” brings in a more bedroom-pop aesthetic courtesy of the hazy vocals from Colby Hansen, playing the role of the broken hearted by coming to terms with the reality of the friendship.
“Feel Again” featuring Mønty C charms its way with a Porter Robinson-esque glow with ambient piano and ethereal synths and percussion, before closing off with the second Swims feature and radiant summer dance track “Open Up”.
