Norwegian Indie Pop Artist Moyka Shares Heartbreaking New Single “I Don’t Wanna Hold On”
Norwegian indie pop artist Moyka describes herself as a “pop witch”, crafting her music with transfixing and hypnotizing detail. On her latest single “I Don’t Wanna Hold On”, her stunning powers act like a siren, alluring in the listener with her compelling vocals and capturing production. Following two successful EPs, “I Don’t Wanna Hold On” is her third single of 2021 as the young Bergen-based artist gradually launches herself into the higher tier of Scandinavian talent with her upcoming debut album The Revelations of Love.
Stemming from her experience with heartbreak, the song finds its strength through its vulnerability, singing “lovers eventually kiss goodbye” on each pre-chorus. The sadness she felt runs parallel with the song, transposing the energy into each breath. Moyka explains, “I wrote it when I was at a point where I felt so tired carrying around the sadness. I just wanted to let go. A lot of the lyrics had already been written before I really pieced the song together part after part. I remember sitting in my room trying to make sense of how the song should be after we’ve made a verse. I realized it could be as simple as crying out to myself that I didn’t want to hold on anymore, and that’s how it became“.
