Wild Pink Announce New EP; Share Lead Single “Ohio” Featuring Samia
It’s been a busy 2021 for New York City-based indie rock group Wild Pink.Their critically-acclaimed album A Billion Little Lights was released in February, followed by the 6 Cover Songs EP in April, and now the four-piece have announced another EP entitled 3 Songs, set to be released on June 25th via Royal Mountain Records.
Teaming up with singer-songwriter Samia, Wild Pink have released the lead single “Ohio”. The vocals from Samia and Wild Pink vocalist John Ross intertwine over the song’s expansive and ethereal arrangement. From the onset, the track is full of sound, breaking into the hypnotic arrangement that builds right to the end, eventually fading out at its close. As the lyrics see Ross ruminating on moments of calm and peace, his lower range is offset with Samia’s higher register as synths and poignant percussion play underneath.
The atmospheric sound and accompanying aerial landscapes in the visualizer emphasize the reverie the lyrics speak to. “This song is about feeling isolated but then the relief that comes from seeing family/friends,” shares Ross. “It’s about getting some comfort from some of the mundane things I took for granted growing up, like daily summer storms and the hum from an oscillating fan at night.”
