R&B Songstress Fana Hues Celebrates Friendship In New Video For “Lay Up”
Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Fana Hues has spent her entire life around music. Growing up in a musical family while learning violin, bass, and piano, Hues also trained as a vocalist, learning from her father and from influences such as Nina Simone, Dionne Warwick, and Mary J. Blige. After overcoming an illness that took away her voice for over five years as a child, Hues dedicated the rest of her life to music, leading her to her stunning debut collection Hues released in December 2020.
The album’s third track “Lay Up” has now been given a new music video, as Hues brings along her close friends for the uplifting and sultry alt-R&B hit. Filmed in Northern California, the visual acts as the second part to last month’s “Yellow” video, with Fana noting about both: “I want these visuals to be a deep sigh of relief after a dark time. I want you to feel the rays of light only your homegirls can give you“. Not only is the track a fun and alluring time, but the music video matches its stress-relieving powers.
