Maths Time Joy & Rich Share Live Cut Of Stunning Collab Track “Hoping You’d Call”
UK producer Maths Time Joy and New York-based artist Rich recently announced an upcoming collaborative project is on the horizon. The duo joined forces virtually and have released two tracks, “Change” and “Hoping You’d Call”, the latter receiving an accompanying live performance. Emotive and passionate, the latest single is an exciting and dense blend of Rich’s unmistakable vocal ability and MTJ’s textured and euphoric production.
Born from unrequited love, Rich shares a little more before the lyrics: “I wrote this song after going on a few dates with a guy and started getting feelings for him that were unrequited. I started doing all the classic things people do when they start falling for someone – telling everybody about him, feeling weightless, and planning out every text obsessively. I was really let down when he said he just wanted to be friends. I started writing this song while on tour with Chance the Rapper, and was listening to a lot of PARTYNEXTDOOR, Future, and Eli Sostre at the time”.
The aforementioned influences come through with R&B vocal qualities and bass-heavy production, as Rich sings with his heart on his sleeve. Watch below:
