DZ Deathrays Share Video For “Kerosene” From Latest LP ‘Positive Rising: Part 2’

Having released their fifth studio album Positive Rising: Part 2 on Friday July 9th, Australian garage rock trio DZ Deathrays unveiled the new music video for the final single “Kerosene”. Working once again with director Joe Agius, the new music video touches on the idea of the “grass is always greener on the other side” as social media and the obsession of other people’s lives maintains a tight grip on the modern perspective.

Commenting on the track, vocalist and guitarist Shane Parsons says: “‘Kerosene’ is all about this idea that we tend to spend so much time looking at other people and their lives and letting that dictate the trajectory of our own. Leaning into the ‘grass is always greener on the other side’ thing. Then the chorus flips around to say that you can be there waiting for others to figure out what they want to do, but just be ready to take on your own path when the time is right.”

In the visual accompaniment, the three friends stick to their guns as they grow up from three skater friends into three rock stars – still from their mom’s basement. Driven by a moody chord progression, “Kerosene” eventually blows up into a hearty dance-punk offering, as the group lean into their stadium rock ideals.
