Rising UK Indie Rocker Lauran Hibberd Unveils New Video For Hit Single “Bleugh”
Off her upcoming Goober EP out Friday July 30th, UK indie rocker Lauran Hibberd has shared the new music video for her single “Bleugh”. Directed by Steve Glashier, the accompanying visual combines the brightly coloured world of pop with the sarcastic, dry UK grunge-pop of Hibberd’s spoken word delivery.
‘Bleugh’ is the only sound that sums up my adult reaction to my pre-naive self,” explains Hibberd. “It’s about always being attracted to people who’ve nothing going on, nothing to offer you, yet it’s that hamster wheel you can’t quite jump off. It’s my favourite track of mine, and I’ve been sitting on and incubating this girl for a while. It feels really good shouting ‘Bleugh’ btw, I recommend you try it out.”
Combining gritty punk verses with upbeat slacker-pop choruses, Hibberd plays with the contrasting styles to create an unapologetically entertaining track that feels both apathetic and inspired. On each verse, she rips through diary-like lamenting about boring partners with a cutting wit before slipping into Weezer-like power-pop.
