Introducing: Indie Singer-Songwriter Katie Tupper Shares Debut Single “Live Inside”
From the heart of the prairies comes Saskatoon-based singer-songwriter Katie Tupper and her debut single “Live Inside”. Unveiled earlier this week of Zane Lowe’s Apple Music 1, the track is a formidable introduction to the 23 year old neo-soul musician, showcasing her warm spirit and down-to-earth songwriting style.
“Live Inside” is a romantic, downtempo track she co-produced with Connor Seidel (Charlotte Cardin, Matt Holubowski). Inspired by her real life experience where Tupper’s partner allowed her to shave their head on a whim, the song plays with the notion of identity, and what it means to let someone change your appearance, and allow someone to become a piece of who you look like everyday. Bringing it to life, the accompanying music video directed Mashie Alam features Tupper and her stage partner finding a middle ground with their looks, as she sings: “Now that I live inside, I think I can be your way of life / Now that I live inside, I think I can have some peace of mind“.
Her debut EP is scheduled for a 2022 release date via Arts & Crafts, but for now enjoy “Live Inside” below:
