Indie Icons alt-J Announce Fourth Album ‘The Dream’; Share New Video “U&ME” Alongside Upcoming Tour Dates
Mercury Prize-winning, multiple Grammy & BRIT Award-nominated band alt-J have officially announced their highly anticipated fourth album The Dream, set for release on February 11th via Canvasback / Infectious Music. Leading the way is the infectious new single “U&ME” which features the band’s signature electronica-infused indie pop sound and big room harmonies. Alongside the single comes a new music video, directed by band member Gus Unger-Hamilton’s brother Propser, and featuring the full band while recalling summer nostalgia and festival season.
The track was written during various soundchecks across the globe, when the band got back to London and heard the recordings they knew it was one of their most dynamic recordings to date. Speaking on the process, Joe Newman says, “It gathered momentum on its own, it was best to just get out of its way. We were just there.” Elaborating on the meaning of “U&ME”, Gus Unger-Hamilton says, “It’s about being at a festival with your best friends, having a good time, togetherness, and the feeling in life that nothing could be any better than it is right now”
As for the upcoming record, alt-J were inspired by true crime, tales Hollywood, and their own personal moments. Created after a year of reflection and recharge following the band’s world tour in support of their 2017 album Relaxer, the new record shows a growth in sound and production.
alt-J have also announced the first leg of their world tour with an extensive leg across North America alongside Portugal. The Man (dates below).
