Introducing: Indie Rock Outfit Pretty Embers Share Introspective Debut Single “Inside”
Having appeared from the quiet corners of their respective bedrooms, Nashville-based indie rock trio Pretty Embers are releasing their debut album on October 29, and have shared the first single “Inside”. Kameron, Ethan, Mason, and former member Andrew, wrote “Inside” in one day, finally feeling like they had found their groove.
Frontman Kameron continues, “I wrote the original guitar idea in my mom’s basement the day that I impulsively bought a new guitar. I was so inspired by the new instrument that I spent the entire evening writing songs. I got three or four ideas out that day and among that bunch was “Inside”. I had a verse and a chorus idea written but I was having trouble shaping it into something complete, so I took it to the guys. From there it just kind of happened. Everyone wrote their parts on the spot in the room and it just felt complete on the day of.”
With noticeable similarities to Death Cab for Cutie, The Districts, and Local Natives, Pretty Embers create a lush and ethereal soundscape that is brought out by the dreamy guitar riffs and Kameron’s echoing vocals, as he sings about self-improvement and self-acceptance:
“Lyrically, I wrote this song about the daunting nature of personal evolution. I am so often my own worst enemy, but despite knowing this, it can be so overwhelming to fundamentally change my bad habits as a person…so I just don’t. This is definitely not a sustainable mindset to have, and I like to think that I am constantly growing and getting better, but there are days for me when it’s simply the truth and complacency wins”.
