Indie Rock Singer-Songwriter Fox Fagan Shares Animated Music Video For “Gotta Get Out”
Los Angeles-based indie rock singer-songwriter Fox Fagan has shared his new music video for his latest single “Gotta Get out”.
“‘Gotta Get Out’ starts with an idea I came up with on the piano during a party”, explains Fox. “I luckily recorded that idea on my phone. A few months later it came back to me with the vocal melody “I’ve been asking myself, lately what else can I do” from there I was able to throw down all my ideas and finish a demo of the song from start to finish in one long studio day at home.
With strong influences of ’70s rock, from The Beatles to King Crimson, with a flush of modern psych-pop a-la Tame Impala and King Gizzard, “Gotta Get Out” is a journey of sound, that builds from a simple piano motif into a layered, accelerated rock track. About the composition, he continues:
“Initially there were electronic drums on it, but I decided to ask my friend Yotam Weiss to lay down some live tracks in his studio remotely and they came out great. I had a lot of fun experimenting with pitched vocal samples of myself and strings and synths with this one too. It’s the first track that I’m really taking on the production and mixing all myself and I actually got to play a guitar solo in it. ‘Gotta Get Out’ is all about tryna get out of your own way, and get moving through your day which has been challenging in recent times and I think it conveys a positive message“.
As an additional layer of mystique and psychedelic influence, the accompanying music video undergoes an unexpected transformation of visuals.
