Australian Indie Folk Duo Hollow Coves Let Themselves Be Vulnerable On Warm-Spirited Single “Purple”
Brisbane indie folk duo Hollow Coves, composed of songwriters Ryan Henderson and Matt Cairns, released their latest EP Blessings earlier this year. Written and recorded from their home studio on the Gold Coast, their music captures the warm and inviting essence of the sunny shores. Following the trend, their new single “Purple” evokes a sensation of comfort and bright emotions, brought on through their soaring melodies and charming instrumentation.
Purple was inspired by a pivotal moment in band member Matt’s relationship with his now wife. Matt says, “One afternoon, early in our relationship, we sat beside a lighthouse on Fingal Headland and put everything on the table. It was the first time being completely vulnerable with each other and it opened a door to a whole new dimension in our relationship. It was in that moment that I realized that this was the girl that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. That place will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”
The emotional freedom from being vulnerable transposes into cheery guitar rhythms and silky vocal harmonies, creating an eternal summer within the song.
