Nomadic Indie Singer-Songwriter Thomas Savage Reconnects On New Single “Hope You Forgive Everything You Can’t”
Now based in Stockholm, indie pop songwriter Thomas Savage has spent time in Brighton, Düsseldorf, Norwich, Glasgow, and his hometown of Melbourne, Australia. With each stop, he has picked up a new influence for his musical project Vilde, having released four LPs along the way. Continuing to add into his discography, Savage released his latest EP Speaking With Strangers earlier this month, sharing with it his new single “Hope You Forgive Everything You Can’t”.
About the EP, Savage shares, “In 2020 I was fortunate enough to be in a position which allowed me to encounter and converse with various strangers on a daily basis, most of whom had not met a new person in months. I came to really feel how important this is for all of us. It gives us a sense of adjustment and participance to our wider societies and beyond that, the world. There was a real sense of beauty in having a genuine connection on some level to people I barely knew. That feeling is at the core of this EP”.
Capturing the humbleness and genuine inspiration of the record, “Hope You Forgive” holds a light airy quality with its quippy synthesizers and subtle groove. Savage’s ghostly croon adds a warmth and sugary positivity to the tune, as he encourages shaking off the worry. Despite its length six minute length, the indie rock tune feels just the right duration, making the most of a small solo and more lavish production on its second half.
